Summer league 2007/8: B team : 10 points from 3 wins, 1 draw, gains us Division 3 South Championship status! Wins 1-4 at Halesowen, 5-0 at home against Warley Quinborne, 3.5-1.5 home against Rushall and a 2.5-2.5 draw at Walsall Kipping..Well done team; Richard Dawson, Bob Khoshnevis, Peter Hubbard, Barry Lewis, Rob Parker, Gordon Sands, Paul Walters.

09/08/08 Most of our Summer League B championship winning team met at our club to be photographed by the Express & Star for a feature. The feature and photograph appeared in the Express & Star 11/08/08 on page 15 and Wolverhampton Chronicle Thurs 14/08/08 on page 3.

Wolverhampton Summer League Awards and Quickplay 07/08/08:

Congratulations to Paul Walters of Wolverhampton for winning the U110 section with 4.5 points out 5. Conceding just 0.5 points in round 5 to A Hussain (Warley Quinborne)who shared =2nd place with Bob Brodie(Bushbury).

Also congratulations to Wolverhampton's Frank Wood for winning the Major (110+) and to Alf Schroeder (Bushbury) 2nd place runner up.

Well done all and thanks to all those who attended and participated in the Quickplay tournament. Much gratitude to Peter Broomhall and John Wakelam for pairings and to Barry Lewis and Derek Laight for organising.

Well done again to Gordon Sands officially Best player Division 3 South for scoring 3.5/4 points.

Our Summer league B team become Wolverhampton Summer League Champions of Division 3 South as of 10 July 2008. Our B team secured a draw at Walsall Kipping and 10 points from 3 match wins and 1 draw. Well Done everyone and particularly to captain Gordon Sands!

19/06/08 Wolverhampton B beat Rushall C 19/06/08. 05/06/08 Wolverhampton B beat Warley Quinborne 5-0 at home. 20/05/08 Wolverhampton B beat Halesowen Away, and win match 1, 1-4.

Wolverhampton Summer A team: Win their final match of the season by beating Rugeley 4-1. Hence, A team finish season on 10 points. 07/07/08 Summer league A team lose at Rushall 4.5-0.5, 03/07/08 A team draw at Stafford, 26/06/08 A Team beat Northfield Checkmates 3-2. 04/06/08 Wolverhampton A beat Bushbury B Away 1.5-3.5.

22/05/08 Wolverhampton retain the Walrus Trophy by just 0.5 points. Well done to all participants and players for making it a very enjoyable event on our chess calendar. Full board scores tobe published soon. Walrus Full Scores

08/05/08 Club AGM took place and lasted a bit longer than usual as a lot was discussed. Many new captaincies and changes of post. Normal club chess nights resume next week.

Summer League 2007/8: A team achieve a much better performance than last year by winning 3 matches and drawing to Stafford. Our team score 10 points and lose only to Rushall who are safely on top of table with no losses.
